THE MAKENA GOLF COURSES
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., this unique gem boasts 36 spectacular holes of the most pristine golf imaginable.
Well known for its layout, the NORTH and SOUTH COURSES are located on 1,800 acres of unspoiled, natural beauty, and is the home of the Hawaii State Open.

The NORTH COURSE goes out of its way to make golfers feel at one with their natural surroundings.... unobstructed views of the blue Pacific, neighboring islands, and humpback whales breaching during whale season. To make it feel more like a nature walk and less like a golf course, even cart paths on the North Course are tucked away and hidden from view.
Natural Hawaiian rock walls are left right where they were found, and they play an integral part in the course design. Natural gullies and streambeds are also left intact, along with Makena¹s indigenous kiawe trees.
The best view of the North Course comes where you¹d expect to find it: part-way up the mountain on the thirteenth hole, overlooking the clubhouse and the natural rolling terrain that leads right up to the ocean.... more

The SOUTH COURSE provides the serenity and tranquility in it¹s remote setting and with well-spaced tee times. It's a favorite of many Maui golfers.... with its natural rolling fairways, undulating greens, and capitivating ocean and mountain views.
"Easy" isn't a word you'll hear often when it comes to describing the South Course's signature hole, the sixteenth. It runs parallel to the ocean!
The proximity to the ocean is exactly why this course is so special. Besides having two oceanfront holes, the South Course also affords an excellent view of humpback whales that visit here each winter.... always an awe-inspiring sight, no matter how many times you see them!.... more
THE WAILEA GOLF COURSES
Wailea's award-winning golf courses are set in the heart of Wailea Resort, nestled along Maui's spectacular southern coastline. It is one of the world's premiere golf destinations.

The GOLD COURSE is the most challenging of Wailea's trio, and is home of the Champions Skins Game.
With a rugged and masterful design by Robert Trent Jones Jr. that takes advantage of the terrain's natural undulations, the design is classic natural, finished with a rugged natural look. Outcroppings of stark lava, indiggenous Hawaiian grasses, an abundance of kiawe (a relative of mesquite), and remnants of papohaku, (prehistoric lava rock walls built by early Hawaiians and preserved for their historic value) litter the course.
It has been labeled a "thinking player's" course because it demands strategy and careful club selection to be played well.
And did we mention the views?.... From virtually every hole in its 200 ft. elevation range there are spectacular ocean and mountain vistas!....more

Ranked as "one of North America's most women-friendly" by Golf for Women, the EMERALD COURSEis a superbly designed, lush tropical playground, created for pure golf enjoyment that allows players to tailor the course to their playing level.
Exotic tropical flowers bloom in great abundance, and fronting the green is the only lake on the course, one of the most picturesque spots.... more

The stately BLUE COURSE is a gracious resort course that has been ranked among America's best by Golf Digest.
Many prestigious events, such as the LPGA Women's Kemper Open and Japan's Asahi-Kyosen pro/celebrity golf tournament have been hosted here.
Its fairways offer views of Mt. Haleakala, and the Blue Pacific. Several fountains and lakes, and an abundance of colorful tropical flora punctuate this magnificent course that was designed to appeal to a broad range of players.... more

Maui's Central Golf Courses

PUKALANI
Set in the rolling hillsides of "up-country" Maui, Pukalani Country Club overlooks the Pacific Ocean
and the rest of the Valley Isle of Maui from 1,100 foot level of Mount Haleakala, the world's largest dormant volcano whose name means "House of the Sun". Pukalani's 18 holes were designed by golf course architect Bob Balddock, and cover nearly 160 acres.... more

DUNES AT MAUI LANI
Dunes at Maui Lani
Golf Digest calls the Dunes at Maui Lani "One of the Five Best Kept Secret Golf Courses in America."
Immaculately maintained, brilliantly designed by Robin Nelson, and simply a superb test of golf in every way, its layout routes up, down, over, and around the course¹s ancient alluvial sand dunes (not through them). These dunes, which were shaped by the winds over a million-year time span, are where the holes weave and turn. Golf shots must be played through these gaps formed by nature.
The Dunes at Maui Lani is a tribute to the great links courses of the British isles. It's golf the way it was meant to be played.... more
ELLEAIR
Originally known as Silversword, and designed by Bill Newis, this semi-private course features narrow fairways, scenic ocean views, and well groomed greens.
The trade winds hit the course usually in the mornings and late afternoons, and the course was designed with this in mind as many of the holes bring the wind into play.
From December to March, Maui's winter visitors, the humpback whales can be seen cavorting offshore while one plays.... more

Robin Nelson, Sandalwood's original designer, has been retained to oversee major renovations to the course. Uniquely positioned on the slopes of the West Maui mountains facing Haleakala, each of the 18 holes will receive a makeover to improve conditions, enhance playability, and add to the magnificent views the location affords.... more

Maui's West Side Golf Courses

These fabulous West side golf courses are worth checking out.
In the heart of Maui's busy tourist scene, these courses at the resorts are outstanding.
KA'ANAPALI GOLF COURSES offer 36 holes of legendary golf that plays through the beautiful foothills of the West Maui Mountains in the heart of the Ka'anapali Beach Resort and thrills golfers with sweeping panoramas of the coastline, but offers far more than just breathtaking scenery it is recognized as a world-class golf facility and has hosted many professional events including the Senior PGA ("Champions Tour") Kaanapali Classic and the LPGA Kemper Open.
Players will see the Sugar Cane Train steam past several holes on the course (now used for tours) and are reminded of Hawaii¹s rich culture and history.

Ka'anapali's TOURNAMENT NORTH is one of only two courses in all of Hawaii designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. The architect took advantage of the rolling landscape to create gently sloping fairways and large contoured greens to ensure a challenging approach to each hole. The Tournament course begins at sea level and hugs the shoreline before winding its way to the West Maui Mountain foothills. Arnold Palmer called the 18th hole (par 4) one of the best and most challenging finishing holes he¹d ever played.... more

The RESORT SOUTH, was designed by Arthur Jack Snyder.
Along many holes on the Resort course lie natural canals, gulches and lava rock boundaries. The course is landscaped with native flowers along the trails like the hibiscus, bougainvillea and plumeria, as well as the Norfolk Pines and coconut trees that border many fairways. These features are part of what makes the course most enjoyable.... more
KAPALUA BAY COURSES Three championship courses, set amidst Maui's magnificent landscape.... each award winning, distinctive course presents its own challenge to a player's abilities.
